The MTAC, founded in 1897, is one of the most respected professional music teacher associations in the nation. It is an organization of approximately 4,700 members statewide. The Fresno County Branch is one of 67 branches of Music Teachers' Association of California (MTAC). Chartered in 1927, the Fresno County Branch was one of the first in the state.

In order to qualify for membership in MTAC, music teachers must have earned a degree in music or have qualified by offering proof of extensive training in music, history, theory, pedagogy, and performance, as well as several years of teaching experience.
MTAC is a non-profit organization; tax deductible donations are gracious accepted.
