The MTAC, founded in 1897, is one of the most respected professional music teacher associations in the nation.  It is an organization of approximately 4,500 members statewide.  The Fresno County Branch is one of 63 branches of Music Teachers' Association of California (MTAC).  Chartered in 1927, the Fresno County Branch was one of the first in the state.


Our Mission:

  • To pursue excellence in music education throughout the Central Valley
  • To provide opportunities for an increasing number of students to explore their musical potential, expand their knowledge and appreciation of music and to cultivate their varying skills and levels of ability.
  • To promote the continuance of musical education for  teacher members in order to cultivate personal, professional and artistic excellence.


In order to qualify for membership in MTAC, music teachers must have earned a degree in music or have qualified by offering proof of extensive training in music, history, theory, pedagogy, and performance, as well as several years of teaching experience.


MTAC is a non-profit organization; tax deductible donations are graciously accepted.
